On Wednesday
November 6, members of the boys and girls cross country teams participated in
the kick-off event for the Fuel Up to Play 60 Program at Jackson Elementary.
Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program
launched by National
Dairy Council (NDC) and NFL, in collaboration with the USDA, to help encourage today’s
youth to lead healthier lives. Fuel Up to Play 60 helps students make positive
changes in their schools by improving opportunities to consume nutrient-rich
foods and get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. The runners
showed the elementary students some activities they do to stay in shape,
discussed the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle and how it all
translates into being an all-around better student.
