Kourtney Cavalier won the Class AA District tennis championship held in October. A freshman and the tournaments top seed, Cavalier played against the second seed, Ema Juleynova of Tyrone and swept the two match set 6-0, 6-1 to win the title for Central Cambria. On her way to the Championship, Kourtney defeated Central's Meghan Schon 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 16 before downing Forest Hills' Rachel Blanchetti 6-1, 6-0 in the quarter finals. She finished her day with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Westmont's Beth Carney in the semifinals. Cavalier was named an Altoona Mirror's Athlete of the Week for winning the District Championship.
Sixteen girls competed for the State title in Hershey where Kourtney faced the Champion from District 11. Cavalier pulled ahead in both the first and second sets but ultimately lost the match 6-4, 6-2.
