CE Halloween!

Cambria Elementary students had their Halloween celebration on Friday, October 31, 2014. The students and faculty had a lot of fun parading around the school building and showing everyone their costumes. Thanks to everyone for participating! We hope all students have a fun and safe Halloween!

JE Halloween!

Jackson Elementary students celebrated Halloween by dressing up in their costumes and parading around the school. Each class then organized fun activities for them to enjoy. Happy Halloween!

McTeacher Night with CE!

Many of the Cambria Elementary teachers volunteered their time at our local Ebensburg McDonalds for McTeacher Night. Many of our students came out to see them and everyone had a great time. McDonalds donated 15% of the sales to our school for the 3 hour event. This includes the drive thru sales, as well as the dining room sales. Our total was around $700.00. A big thank you goes out to our teachers and McDonalds for making this night possible.

STEM

On Thursday, October 23rd, Central Cambria’s Exploring Concepts of STEM class went on a field trip to the Colver Power Project and the Patton Wind Farm.  The cost of the transportation was generously funded by PA Career Link.  Dennis Simmers, a member of Central Cambria’s Board of Directors, along with a few other Colver Power Project employees took the students on an exciting tour of the co-generation plant.  The students learned how waste coal can be efficiently burned to generate electricity.  They also learned how the clean-up of this waste coal can have  a positive impact on the environment.  Two individuals from the Institute of Energy at Saint Francis University accompanied the group for the tour of the Patton Wind Farm.   Students were introduced to the use of wind turbines as a viable option for the production of electricity.  The field trip was a great way to show the importance of STEM related topics in our very own communities.

Color Run

Students of Cambria Elementary participated in the “Dye the Devil” color run on Saturday, October 18th. The run was sponsored by Cambria and Jackson Elementary PTOs. The entire school community had fun at this event! The color run helped raise money for the schools. This money will bring more fun and exciting programs to our schools. Local Businesses sponsored the event, and students and their families helped to raise money by participating. Thank you to all the hard working volunteers who made this event possible and a fun day for everyone!
