On Tuesday, November 17th,
Central Cambria’s Exploring Concepts of STEM and Advanced STEM classes went on
a really "coal" field trip to the Colver Power Project.
The cost of the transportation was generously funded by our
administration. Dennis Simmers, a member of Central Cambria’s Board of
Directors, along with a few other Colver Power Project employees took the
students on an exciting tour of the co-generation plant. The students
learned how waste coal can be efficiently burned to generate electricity.
They also learned how the clean-up of this waste coal can have a positive
impact on the environment. The field trip was a great way to show the
importance of STEM related topics in our very own communities.
