A representative from Bradford School of Pittsburgh visited
the classrooms of Renee Shaffer and Stephanie Reese in November to talk about
Nonverbal Communication, Interview Skills, and the programs offered by their
school. Both seniors and juniors in Mrs. Reese’s class were able to
experience the presentations and see an opportunity for post-high school
education. The presentations were interactive and informative and
provided the students with an overview of skills they would need after leaving
high school. The program on “Interview Skills” involved tips for dressing
appropriately, leaving your cell phone in the car, and writing a “Thank You” note
to your interviewer for taking the time to review your resume and meet with
you. The nonverbal communication skills presentation focused on the subtle
signs we send to people around us based on our facial expressions and body
language in social situations. Both programs were entertaining and informative.
