Pennies + Pizza, Pig, and Pie
The students at Jackson Elementary School will be declaring a Penny War from March 26th until March 30th to enhance the science programs for each grade. Along with the penny war we will also be doing pizza, pigs and pies. Yes pigs! Our goal is to raise $5,000.00 so each class can receive extra science materials. Along with the war the PTO will have Pizza Fundraiser night at Chuck E. Cheese in Richland. We will receive 15% of sales for this fundraiser. T-shirts will also be sold to be worn on the last day of the Penny War. The t-shirt will be designed by 5th grade students.
Here is how it works:
Each classroom will have a jug to collect pennies in. Students may bring in pennies or donate paper bills to exchange for pennies (Ex: $5.00 = 500 pennies). Each morning before class the students will have the opportunity to put pennies in their classroom jar. Each class will have a chance to sabotage other classes by putting silver money in other classroom jars. (Ex: A quarter will cancel out 25 pennies). The goal is to have as many pennies and less silver in your jars. The students are going to have a week filled with fun!Schedule:
- March 26th – Penny War
- March 27th – Penny War
- March 28th – Penny War and Night Out at Chuck E. Cheese from 3:00 to 9:00pm. (Chuck E. will be visiting J.E.S)
- March 29th – Penny War
- March 30th – Penny War ends and there will be a short assembly at the end of the day.

The goal is to raise $5,000.00 to help our Science Program. If this goal is reached one student will be selected to throw a pie in Mrs. Murin’s face. Papers will be sent home next week for the science T-shirts.
