JE 2015 GOLD

On March 28th 4th & 5th grade girls from Cambria and Jackson Elementary came together to participate in GOLD. GOLD is a girls only leadership program that teaches girls to resolve conflicts, work as a team, become a leader, and provide them with the opportunity to make new friends. The program was held at Jackson Elementary. Thank you to all the students who participated and the volunteers that volunteer their time to make this event possible.

Author Chris Rumbles visits JES through Title 1

Author and illustrator, Chris Rumble visited Jackson Elementary on Thursday, March 26th. He encouraged students the importance of reading and sang fun songs that the students were able to participate in. Students had an opportunity to purchase autographed books from Chris Rumble. This was all made possible through Title 1. Thank you to the Jackson and Cambria Elementary Title 1 Reading Specialists for all their hard work organizing this event.

Chris Rumble visits CE

Author and illustrator, Chris Rumble presented a Reading Pep-Rally to Cambria Elementary students on Thursday, March 26th. He spoke about writing and illustrating children’s books and sang upbeat songs to motivate our students to read. The students and the teachers had a great time!

Exploring Concepts of STEM

The Exploring Concepts of STEM class at Central Cambria High School has been chosen to participate in the John B. Gunter Program which is a STEM Job Shadowing Program based here in Cambria County.  Representatives from the following businesses visited Central Cambria on Wednesday, March 18^th to outline the program for the students:  Penelec, Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), Enterprise Ventures Corporation (EVC), Kongsberg Protech Systems, Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, and Somerset Trust Company.  After completing a job-selection activity, the students will be placed in a job shadowing experience that is aligned with their interests.  At the conclusion of the job-shadowing program, the participating students will be eligible for scholarship opportunities.  John B. Boys Only Leadership Development (BOLD) Day

BOLD was held on March 21, 2015 for 4th and 5th Cambria and Jackson Elementary boys. The program was held at the Jackson Elementary School. Students spent the day participating in a variety of activities and events that taught them to resolve conflicts, work as a team, become a leader, and provide them with the opportunity to make new friends. Thank you to all the students who participated and the volunteers that volunteer their time to make this event possible.
