JE 2nd Grade Musical Presentation

The JES 2nd grade classes created a literacy and music video.  They combined vocal ostinatos and percussion instruments to books such as the Hungry Caterpillar and the Ten Little Caterpillars.

Dr. Woods Visits Anatomy and Physiology Classes

Dr. Thomas Woods, Central Cambria School Board Member and St. Francis University faculty member guest lectured during the CCHS Anatomy & Physiology classes.  Dr. Woods, a part of SFU Physician Assistant Program faculty, presented cardiovascular topics to the class ranging from heart disease, stents, catheterization and other heart related information.  He illustrated techniques on human cadaver hearts that are utilized in the medical field for treatment of coronary stenosis created by plaques and explained how by-pass surgery is conducted.  Dr. Woods’ presentation helped students see real life situations dealing with the human cardiovascular system.  His knowledge of both the cardiovascular system and the medical field has helped to inform students who are trying to make career decisions about entering the many medical disciplines available to them.  Many thanks to Dr. Woods for bringing in the heart and brain specimens and taking his time to present this valuable information to the Central Cambria High School anatomy students. 

CE Cyber Night

On March 23rd, Assistant High School Principal Andrew Paronish, School Resource Officer Nate Stohon, and Director of Technology Joe Strittmatter met with approximately 20 Cambria Elementary parents to discuss the social media and the dangers of cyberbullying. As a follow up with students, they held presentations to show students the risks of sharing too much information online while also highlighting the steps taken at Central Cambria and within law enforcement to curb cyberbullying.

Lance Loya Visit

Cambria and Jackson Elementary Schools hosted a tailgating Family Literacy Night on Tuesday, March 22nd . Our guest speaker was Coach Lance Loya from Mount Aloysious College, who is the author and illustrator of the book titled Be a Good Teammate.  The evening started with some popular tailgating foods and followed with Mr. Loya’s presentation.  He spoke about his bookwhich incorporated an inspirational message about teamwork with a very entertaining delivery.  Audience members were highly engaged and the children enjoyed the sport giveaways that included: 2 family packs of Curve Tickets and different sporting equipment. It was a fun night enjoyed by all!

JES Chorus visits IUP

The Jackson Elementary Chorus visited the Indiana University of Pennsylvania music department on March 22nd, 2016.  The students participated in several music activities with Dr. Laura Ferguson and Dr. Craig Denison.  They also observed IUP Wind Ensemble and Chorale rehearsals led by Dr. Paul and Dr. Beeken.  This link is a picture and video presentation of one of the musical activities.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fhMV9AsJhg&feature=youtu.be
