Students spent the day participating in a variety of activities and events that taught them to resolve conflicts, work as a team, become a leader, and provide them with the opportunity to make new friends. Thank you to all the students who participated and the volunteers that volunteer their time to make this event possible.

Mardi Gras at CE

Some of our first grade CES students made table decorations for the Mardi Gras party at the Senior Activities Center in Ebensburg.   Mrs. Davis’s first grade art classes started by watching a YouTube video about the history of Mardi Gras and how it is celebrated around the world.  The video was made by a first grade class from New Orleans, Louisiana.  The students created masks using their handprints as a template, and decorated them with paint, sequins and feathers.  They used the official Mardi Gras color scheme: purple, yellow and green.  The masks were put in vases on the tables at the Ebensburg Senior Activities Center with colorful beads and trinkets.  Everyone there played with them and loved them so much they even took some home to their friends who were too sick to make it to the party! The student’s art brought a lot of smiles to a lot of faces!  The students and Mrs. Davis had a lot fun!

St. Patrick's Day

The students at Cambria Elementary School had a special visitor at the end of the day, a leprechaun! The leprechaun visited homeroom classes and told the students Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Mrs. Strunk’s 4th grade class learned about solutions and mixtures while participating in some fun activities based on St. Patrick’s Day.

Read Across America 2015

Cambria Elementary students celebrated Read-Across America week by playing Bingo for books in their pajamas on March 2nd. Students were permitted to wear green and special hats to honor Dr. Seuss’ books. Classroom teachers and students decorated their doors with book themes, as well. Author Chris Grumble will be coming to visit on March 26th. The students are very excited!

Relay For Life Fundraiser A Great Success!

Thank-you to everyone who came out to support our Relay for Life event on March 18th!  The Faculty v. Students’ basketball games lived-up to the high expectations that were set with the girl’s student and men’s faculty teams taking victories for the night, opposite last year!  Both were close games, coming down to two and one points, respectively.  The fundraiser was a great success.  Between the games, food, baskets, and activities, we were able to raise about $2,800 for our cause!  Again, thanks to all our supporters, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
