The Central Cambria School District will begin the new school term on Tuesday,
August 27, 2013. In-service days for
professional staff will be held Tuesday through Friday, August 20, 21, 22, and
23.
If you are new to the Central Cambria area and have not registered your
school-age child, please do so as soon as possible. As of Tuesday, August 13,
all school offices are staffed.

Breakfast and lunch will be served the first day in all buildings. High
and Middle School student lunches will be $1.70, elementary student lunches
will be $1.55, white milk will be 55 cents, and flavored milk will be 60 cents. The reduced lunch price will remain at 40
cents. Price for breakfast for
Elementary and Secondary students will be $1.00. Breakfast reduced price will
remain at 30 cents. Students eligible
for free/reduced lunch are also eligible for free/reduced price breakfast. Applications for free and reduced price meals
will be distributed to all students the first week of school. Only one application per household is necessary,
with the exception of households with foster children. Please note, parents/guardians must complete
a new application each new school year as this is a yearly process.
Daily classes are scheduled to begin at 7:37 a.m. in the High and Middle Schools
and 8:50 a.m. for Elementary students. Dismissals
are scheduled at 2:43 p.m. for High and Middle School students and 3:30 p.m.
for Elementary students.
All Middle
School and High School students will exit the buses in the front of the
building and walk to breakfast or to their respective waiting areas. Parent drop-off and pick-up for Middle School
and High School students is at the rear of the building complex near the new
entrance and lobby.
Middle School and High School
students will be permitted to bring backpacks to and from school; however,
backpacks must remain in lockers during the school day. There will be a secure, designated area for
storage of athletic bags/equipment. The
backpack policy at the Elementary level remains the same.

The gate above Cambria Elementary School near Highland Avenue will be
closed mornings after buses/parents drop off their students, and opened for
student pick-up at dismissal. The gate
will also be closed on weekends. The
purpose for the gate closure is to provide security for our students during the
school day, and also to preserve the campus road system. Following is the gate schedule:

The Learning Lamp
will continue to provide before/after school programs at both the Cambria and
Jackson Elementary Schools. The before school program will begin at 6
a.m., and the after school program will end at 6 p.m. The tuition is $4 per
hour, rounded to the nearest quarter hour based on use. Parents may
enroll students for as many days as needed. Subsidized care is available
for families who qualify. Care can also be provided during
Teacher-In-Service and Act 80 Days. Additionally, The Learning Lamp will
offer daily homework help by a certified teacher for no additional cost.
Even if your child does not need before/after school care, students may
participate in the daily homework help sessions, which will take place Monday
through Thursday from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., for students in Kindergarten
through 5th grade. For more information regarding this

Once again the Community Action Partnership of Cambria County Head Start
program will provide a PA Pre-K Counts classroom for 18 three and four year old
children at the Jackson Elementary School building.
The District swimming pool
program for the 2013-2014 term will be outsourced to the Greater Johnstown
Community YMCA. More information
regarding aquatic programs/pool schedule will be announced in the near future.
